I'm so excited to announce the launch of this innovative color!

I created the below video guide to answer all things Redken Shades ALK below:

Shades ALK is a Liquid-Cream Alkaline Demi that provides enhanced coverage, up to 8 weeks of color vibrancy, and visibly healthy hair! It’s the power of a color with the care of a gloss!

So, why was Shades ALK developed? What was the inspiration behind it?

You see, Redken had a gap in their color offering - they have their iconic Shades EQ as their zero lift acidic Demi offering -  perfect for toning, refreshing, and glossing; giving a more sheer / translucent conditioned result for clients who want a low commitment experience with their color!

Up until this point, there wasn’t a non permanent color option from Redken that would address breaking the base AND having coverage.

No more having to worry about stocking up on multiple developers when it comes to using this line! You are able to boost your efficiency and profit margin by using the 1 universal developer!

Also, when it comes to application, for those of you that follow me, you all know that I LOVE applying with a bottle! After all, that drizzle is my signature!

In case you’re wondering, Shades ALK can be used both in a bottle and a bowl and a brush!

An important thing to note is the mixing ratio - it does differ from Shades EQ’s 1:1 mixing ratio!

Shades ALK’s mixing ratio is 1:1.5 - this allows for easy mixing and spreadability; resulting in a liquid-cream consistency for maximum evenness and saturation!

Black to Gray - Providing the cool foundation needed to diminish warmth.

Brown to Tan - Providing the foundation needed for balanced, natural results.

 Shades ALK Crystal Clear 

 Shades ALK can be diluted with Crystal Clear - or you can use a 9 or 10 level shade to lessen or lighten the tone of any Shades ALK. If less color deposit is required, use Crystal Clear; for a lighter deposit, use a 9 or 10 shade.

 Here’s a quick tip when formulating: For optimum penetration and durability of color results, it is recommended to process for the standard time of 20 minutes. To achieve lighter results: use diluted formulas, not reduced processing time!
